Executive Director and Internal Affairs Coordinator
- Mobilizes members of newcomer communities to promote the health and well-being of newcomers through participation in UVNR programs and community events.
- Assists with recruiting and enrolling newcomer participants for organizational programs, projects and events.
- Conducts quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with newcomer participants as needed.
- Participates in all required team meetings and planning sessions, including community collaboration meetings with outside organizations.
- Facilitates and/or interprets at weekly Refugee and Immigrant Well-being Project Learning Circles.
- Participates in UVNR’s Mentoring Program (including Pathways), including direct and group client interactions and service delivery by linking newcomer individuals and families to community resources and engaging in advocacy.
- Completes interpretation and translation assignments for UVNR’s Interpretation and Translation program (e.g. organizational contracts with community partners, community events, etc.)
- Participates in UVNR’s Youth Initiatives program, including working with the team and newcomer families to bolster enrollment and support academic performance of children in early childhood education and K-12 initiatives.
- Builds and sustains relationships with newcomer community members, other community-based organizations that work with newcomers, and local, state, and national partners
- Helps make communities in New Mexico and the United States more receptive to newcomers by working with community partners towards system change, including but not limited to, the dissemination of information, education, collaboration and active participation in community meetings and events.
- Participates in shared decision-making structure and leadership related to UVNR goals, programs, and activities
- Engages in professional development activities as described in UVNR’s Handbook.
- Charts and documents all client information, encounters, attendance, and referrals to UVNR and associated organizations in all program areas within Apricot or other organizationally identified software.
- Assists with other miscellaneous organizational tasks as needed.
- Must be fluent in English and at least one other language spoken in New Mexico newcomer communities (Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, and/or French).
- Must have experience being or working in multicultural environments. Experience working specifically with refugees, immigrants, asylum-seekers and other newcomers is preferred but not required.
- Must have the ability to engage the UVNR team, clients, and community partners with good interpersonal skills (team-oriented, responsible, dependable, motivational, patient, empathetic, flexible, etc.)
- Must have good communication and active listening skills and the ability to adapt in various situations.
- Must be able to conduct interviews in person, online, and over the phone.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to UVNR offices and within Albuquerque.
- Must be proficient using computers and other information technology.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
- Must have flexibility to work on some nights and weekends.
- Must attend all team and assigned community meetings unless otherwise noted.
- Must complete all weekly and other reporting requirements, and general tasks, in a timely manner.
- Must follow and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

All UVNR employees are at will and termination by the organization or employee can occur at any time. An employee who resigns should submit a resignation letter in writing no later than one month prior to the desired end date. The employee may report any incidents or challenges to the Internal Affairs Coordinator or Executive Director at will.
